We have a long way to go to retrofit our old house (circa 1967). Like most people, we’d like a more energy efficient, healthy, eco-friendly home. We started with the the easy stuff: replaced the light bulbs, installed rain barrels, signed up for 100% wind power.
Yes, it turns out changing our electricity source to wind was easy. In our county, there is a financial incentive. Might be worth checking out where you live.
Erin’s a rabid gardener (I mean avid). She created two small meadows (which the birds love) and which absorb more rainwater than the same area in mowed grass and that reduces run-off. Other gardens were designed to absorb rainwater which not only reduces run-off, but also means they don’t need to be watered as often.
